Arms

Many men and women find themselves contending with a slew of cosmetic issues when it comes to their arms. The prominent display of excess hair, spider veins and brown spots can lead to a lack of self-confidence and a sense of shame regarding their physical appearance. The good news is there is a plethora of effective spa body treatments that can leave any trace of these imperfections virtually unnoticeable.

Laser Hair Removal
For the treatment of excess hair on the arms, laser hair removal is by far one of the most effective, painless solutions. The laser hair removal process works by using a laser beam to target a group of hair follicles. The laser passes beneath the skin to damage the root, leaving the skin unscathed. This process prevents the hair from growing back for the most part, although there is a recurrence of hair growth in some cases. However, the new hairs are finer in texture and lighter in color than the original ones. Laser hair removal results usually require multiple spa treatments.

Laser Vein Removal
Laser vein removal treatments can eliminate spider veins in arms. The laser treatment for spider veins involves a light that’s sent beneath the skin and attacks the hemoglobin in the capillaries. This, in turn, results in the dissipation of the vein. Within a few weeks the spider veins in the arm are minimized or completely gone.

Before the cosmetic procedure, a professional visibly identifies the appropriate areas. In some cases, a topical anesthetic is first applied to the spots to reduce pain, especially if it is a sensitive area. Once this part of the spa body treatment is complete, the area is shaved and the intense bursts of light attack the vein, causing it to fade. The process usually lasts about 20 minute.

Brown Spots Removal
Because the arms are exposed to sunlight so often, they’re a major trouble area when it comes to sun spots. But it’s easy come, easy go for these spots which can quickly age your appearance. Intense Pulsed Light Treatment, microdermabrasion and chemical peels are all effective spa body treatments for eradicating brown spots.

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Treatment relies on high intensity pulses of light to zero in on the undesirable area. The energy passes beneath the first layer of skin and targets the pigment thereby erasing the brown spots in a quick, effective manner.

These spa body treatments take about 20 to 30 minutes. Once the “undamaging” is done you can immediately revisit your daily way of life – whether it’s going to the gym or returning to work. Doctors do warn that patients should use sunscreen in the meantime. For the most part, the brown spots won’t return. That doesn’t mean new ones won’t appear on other body parts. Avoiding sunlight plays an integral role in making sure they don’t reappear.

Microdermabrasion is another procedure to combat brown spots. The use of fine crystals against the affected area reduces the appearance of uneven pigment and brown spots. For optimal results, peels are often used in conjunction with microdermabrasion. This process is commonly used to treat the hands. Up to eight treatments are conducted over the course of a few weeks. The end result is smoother, more youthful-looking skin.

Another way to wipe out brown spots is through chemical peels. Phenol, Trichloroacetic acid or Alphahydroxy acids can be used to treat sun spots, brown spots and age spots. During a peel, a chemical solution is applied to the selected area. This eradicates damaged skin cells, peeling away the outer layer of skin to reveal an uncontaminated layer of skin. The strengths and solutions of the chemicals are selected based on skin depth. In general, a chemical facial peel can take as little as 15 minutes or as long as one hour.
