Intense Pulsed Light Therapy (IPL)

IPL laser therapy uses a special light that moves through the skin and is absorbed by the hemoglobin in the contaminated vessel. The extreme heat from the laser causes the vein to collapse and disappear. These lasers are precise enough to target the exact vessel without affecting surrounding tissue. During the five to ten minute procedure, the patient will likely feel a sensation much like the snapping of a rubber elastic being popped against the skin. Although discomfort is mild, topical numbing creams are sometimes applied prior to the process. Cold compresses are also used to dull the pain.

Once the IPL laser therapy is complete, there may be noticeable bruising or discoloration surrounding the treated area. This usually disappears within seven days.

IPL Treatment for Brown, Sun and Age Spots
There are advanced skin therapies for age spots, ones that can restore a youthful look to the skin. IPL laser therapy can be used as an effective treatment for sun spots. Through this procedure, high intensity pulses of light zero in on the area to be treated. The energy passes beneath the first layer of skin and targets the pigment thereby eradicating the brown spots in a quick, effective manner.

These advanced skin therapies take about 20 to 30 minutes. Once the “undamaging” is done you can immediately revisit your daily way of life – whether it’s going to the gym or returning to work. Doctors do warn that patients should use sunscreen in the meantime. For the most part, the brown spots won’t return. That doesn’t mean new ones won’t appear on other body parts. Avoiding sunlight plays an integral role in making sure they don’t reappear.

IPL Treatment for Rosacea
IPL laser therapy is perhaps the best treatment for Rosacea. By attacking the dilated vessels that cause the disease, this innovative procedure provides relief for patients who have long suffered the effects of Rosacea.

In most cases, patients only require one or two laser treatments to zap the contaminated vessels.

IPL Treatment for Vascular Lesions
Vascular lesions are defined as overgrown enlarged blood vessels or multiple small vessels. While some vascular lesions are present at birth, others are induced by outside factors later in life. In most cases, these identifying marks are brought on by broken and dilates vessels. So it only makes sense that one would tap into the root of the problem to expunge it. This is where IPL laser therapy comes in.

IPL laser therapy can actually alleviate the emotional pain and discomfort brought on by these marks. With laser therapy a special light moves through the skin and is absorbed by the hemoglobin in the contaminated vessel. In the case of leg vein removal, it can last up to 14 days.
