Facial and Leg Vein Removal

Facial and Leg Vein Removal

Who wants to live in vein…literally? One day, they appear out of nowhere, those dreaded spider veins. The most commonly affected areas are the face and the legs. Regardless of where they pop up, it can feel like the end of the world when the large, purplish veins start overtaking the body.

Many of us will go to great lengths to cover the unsightly outbreaks. From wearing pants on the hottest summer day to caking on excess amounts of concealer, there’s nothing you won’t do to keep those spider and varicose veins from being exposed.

There are a number of causes of spider and varicose veins, including obesity, heredity, hormones, aging and exposure to sun. Although it’s often impossible to prevent the formation, it is feasible to get rid of spider veins with these effective medical spa treatments. There is no longer a need for resorting to surgery to make spider veins obsolete. There are simple out-patient procedures that can serve as a convenient cure-all for those individuals who don’t want to go under the knife.

Many men and women are afflicted with spider veins on the cheeks, around the nose and in other noticeable spots on the face. As people age, the occurrence of broken veins, also known as telangectasia, becomes more commonplace. In addition to factors such as heredity, aging, weight gain, sun exposure and hormones, people who are on their feet for long periods of time are also more susceptible to varicose and spider veins. As individuals get older, they become more aware of the onset of varicose and spider veins on both the face and legs.

But there’s no reason to hide, not when there are medical spa treatments to zap away those veins and put that embarrassment to bed. Novel treatments for both the legs and face can eliminate veins from head to toe. The laser vein removal process involves a light that’s sent beneath the skin and attacks the hemoglobin in the capillaries. This, in turn, results in the dissipation of the vein. Within a few weeks the vein is minimized or completely gone.

Before the procedure, a professional visibly identifies the appropriate areas. In some cases, a topical anesthetic is first applied to the spots to reduce pain, especially if it is a sensitive area. Once this part of the treatment is complete, the area is shaved and the intense bursts of light attack the vein, causing it to fade. The process usually lasts about 20 minutes.

While some individuals do not experience any discomfort, others may feel a slight stinging sensation, the equivalent to the snapping of a rubber band on their skin. There is no recovery time and patients can resume their every day activities immediately following the vein removal procedure.

Endovenous Laser Treatment is another form of vein removal which targets varicose veins. Through this process, which takes about an hour, a needle is inserted into the leg. An optic fiber is inserted and as the laser is activated, the optic fiber heats the vein, causing it to close. The blood that was circulating through the varicose vein is redirected to other veins and in turn, the varicose vein dissipates over time. The number of follow-up treatments varies from case to case depending on the prevalence of the veins.

Varicose veins or spider veins can also be treated through a process known as sclerotherapy, where a chemical called sclerosant is injected into the vein. This chemical damages and scars the vein causing it to become sealed. Depending on the size or the quantity of varicose veins, the vein removal procedure can take under 30 minutes. Pressure must be applied to the area for a period of time that can last up to a week to prevent blood from returning to the vein. In some cases, patients may experience a burning sensation during the treatment. Sclerotherapy may also require several treatments depending on the severity of the veins.

A patient can resume normal activities immediately following the procedure. However, it is advised that they refrain from heavy physical activity for a few days after treatment.

With the various methods of laser spider vein removal and varicose vein removal, it’s easier than ever to get rid of spider veins and varicose veins. Depending on the severity of your complaints, it’s important to select the treatment that best suits your wants and needs. But rest assure, there is something for everyone.
